I know there are both first benchers and last benchers reading this blog. Then where comes the difference? I am pretty much sure that while people from first bench would read this post after i have mailed them that there is a new posting in my blog and tell them to take a look at it while the back benchers would have already completed reading it through feeds.
I got the idea of writing on this issue from a private channel which aired a program on this issue called "Neeya? Naana?" meaning "You? or Me?". It had people from both front and bench and back bench discussing on what they liked and not. Was happy to hear that gals liked boys from back benches than from front bench.
While front bench students believed strongly that a classroom is meant only to study back bench students argued that there is more in life than just study study and study. They strongly believed that you can learn more if you enjoy more. There were three teachers who were present in the show who were asked what kind of students they liked? One teacher said she liked people from front bench while the other two agreed that students from the back bench impressed them more. They also mentioned that the classroom is lively because of the back benchers.
The program was concluded rightly by the host by saying these lines " While many front bench people fail to learn what life has in it to teach them a few back benchers fail in life itself". I strongly believe that what you learn doesn't depend on whether you are a first bencher or the last bencher. It is never true that only people from first benches would come up in life and back benchers always lag behind. Remember our own president Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was a back bencher.
So why is there a differentiation in the minds of students based on where they sit? Why does first benchers dislike the back benchers and viceversa? Students should think on this and make sure that the classrooms are meant for learning with some fun involved in it rather than developing hatred towards each other.
My wish would be to develop a classroom with only middle benchers and no back or front benchers. Front benchers should try to learn to enjoy life and learn what life has in it to teach while back benchers should try to make sure that their life is not funny for others and they should still continue to enjoy learning but should not over do the enjoying.
Now come give your comments on what you think of this issue and don't forget to mention whether you are a front bencher or a back bencher so that i can have a study on how many front bencher or back bencher do read blogs.

I have been a last benchie for more than 12 years ....
Its true that you kan enjoi the spirit of college/skool life only from last bench.....

I was the back bencher on the first bench :) ........... Personally I got along very well with the back benchers cos sitting in the front doesn't mean u are always paying attention :):D
I had been a back-bencher all my life... I hardly remember any day sitting on the first bench(had sat there as a punishment sometimes).
Life has its own pace in the last bench...enjoy a snack...write a love poem...crib ur desk with ur GF's name etc etc..
I feel the whole phycology of the front sitters and the back bench boys are completely differnt..

Dont say that first bench sucks, u should also understand their feelings and the way they look life.

It is not about paying attention. It is about the mischievous things u do while u r in last bench. Most times u wont be able to do them being a first benchie

It reminds me of my school days. We had a different funda there.
Each week we have to shift our place to next bench. This allowed everyone to be front-bencher and a back-bencher. Also every month we use to shift to new row. Thus there was no way any parent can complain about his childs sitting position.
This can be implemented every where so that there is no discrimination as front-benchers and back-benchers.
Hey nice article da deepak.even i did saw that programme. me too a back benchie till my whole student life.it was something that cannot be described by words what we get in backbench... at the same time i wont blame the front bench guys are waste or useless. i go with the conclusion words of the host wherein he mentioned "the front benchers have dedicated their life only for studies,studies and studies...thereby finishing of their life unknowing that there is something to enjoy and explore(not bad habits i mean)other than studying alone" . No matter where he/she sits in ,either back bench or BACK BENCH :) they should keep in mind have some responsibilities in life and then we can easily win.

P.S: in that programme front benchers were arguing as if none of the back benchers have come up in life!!! its crazy na... there is a limit for blaming...and this is too much..i couldnt accept it..what say deepak?
i don't know what category i belong to coz i had been a first bencher in the early stages, gradually became a middle bencher and finally signed off my campus life being a last bencher.
i believe there is a misconception about both first and last benchers; that first benchers hate last benchers and last benchers are nothing but disturbances to the class. Middle benchers fall to neither of this and are mere spectators of the happenings in the class, and they manage to get a good name as well.
As for sleeping, first benchers deserve a pat on the back. Unlike back benchers, who sleep well in the class not worrying much about their already damaged reputation, first benchers strike a perfect balance b/w sleeping and listening to class, doing both.

i have been first bench since first std..........so it has become everyday part......being sitting in first row doesn't stop me from doing mischiefs and blamin back benchers....... hey back benchers please don kill me...... ha ha ha ha ....!!!!! im enjoyin being in 1st row......

I would be happy if all schools could follow your kind of rotation policy. This would make sure that there is no discrimination on the basis of front or back bencher. Also everyone would get a chance to have their share of fun.

I agree with you sayeesh in saying that it is not true that there is no one from the back bench who has come up in life. It is also a bitter fact that some people in the back benches fail in life sometime. Back benchers also come up in life.

I tried to be as unbiased as possible but still think bcos of being a back benchie my words slightly tilted towards them. And i still can understand what front benchie people do at class.

Also dont forget that there is more fun than what you expect or had predicted that back bench would have. It is not only about mischief, back benches have much more to offer. Try it if u can .
hey deepak .. even i saw that show while navigating the channels in tv..... i proudly say i have been a last benchie for 16yrs.. right from my 1st std till my college life due to my height .. i couldnt even dream of me sitting in the first row. hey great days in last bench.lots of fun.. iam against those who say last bench will not come up in life..why to take example of kalam.. y not u r me.. r we not settled in life? ..equal to first bench people..
